After a rather tough play, Inter de Chillán's Clemencín Celis got a free kick in the 17th minute. Basilio Dragicevic showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeraldo Gredig in the 18th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Lacunza in the 20th minute of play forced Navalito's goalkeeper Maximino Bear to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute of the match Inter de Chillán got a corner. Navalito's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marcos Soto ran over to the corner to take the kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jeraldo Gredig in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Basilio Dragicevic prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gonzalo Canto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Basilio Dragicevic tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeraldo Gredig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Basilio Dragicevic managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Navalito's Jeraldo Gredig fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Inter de Chillán's Basilio Dragicevic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Canto in the 52nd minute of play. If Paulo Brotfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Juan Luis Alfaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Inter de Chillán booed when Navalito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Regino Matas didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Navalito's zone, Juan Luis Alfaro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maximino Bear came out of the goal and Juan Luis Alfaro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Navalito made a substitution.
