The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Gonzalo Perl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. Casimír Cavada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidro Camara having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Casimír Cavada had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Isidro Camara. Magallanes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Casimír Cavada was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Isidro Camara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Odín Oliva, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After a rather tough play, Magallanes's Emilio Formoso got a free kick in the 39th minute. Paulino Slight made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelo Aracena in the 45th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Brian Izaga to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Casimír Cavada in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Isidro Camara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Manolo Letelier kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match.
