Through an outstanding action, after 11 minutes, Tiaguinho Correia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 12 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's goal looked a bit too open when Valdemar de Amaral came free, but Tiaguinho Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's goalkeeper Tiaguinho Correia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Carlos Pernambucano. Valdir Cavalcante took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tiaguinho Correia. Tiaguinho Correia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Dragoş Vâtcu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Sylwester Zarobski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kléber Borges was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 33rd minute. Grêmio 20 Julho's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dagoberto Dracena in the 35th minute of play forced Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Sylwester Zarobski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilmar Romero could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Tiaguinho Correia made a huge save. Dagoberto Dracena scored 1-1 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sylwester Zarobski, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dagoberto Dracena in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sylwester Zarobski saved Grêmio 20 Julho from getting behind. Sylwester Zarobski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dagoberto Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Despite this Sylwester Zarobski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. But to his dismay, Róbson Couto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. 92 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's Róbson Couto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sylwester Zarobski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sylwester Zarobski stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Róbson Couto's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Róbson Couto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Grêmio 20 Julho fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Trindade Atlético Club were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
