Valério Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdemar de Amaral in the 17th minute of the match. The nice shot from Valdir Cavalcante in the 19thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Valério Monteiro had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. In the 21st minute Valdemar de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valério Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdemar de Amaral took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valério Monteiro. After a rather tough play, Grêmio 20 Julho's Valdir Cavalcante got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 34th minute, Gilmar Romero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Valdemar de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Valério Monteiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valdemar de Amaral's shot from short distance in the 40th minute.
