Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Esen Sanal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Krisztián Véber came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronaldo Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Krisztián Véber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Montevideo booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucio Siekkötter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronaldo Medeiros made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Krisztián Véber sent off a good shot on target. 17 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Bray McJon came free, but Esen Sanal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 19 minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wilson Fernandez who took care of the corner kick. 20 minutes into the game, Renato Augusto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Ronaldo Medeiros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mário Maranhense kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luisito Antequera in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Esen Sanal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 29 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Fernandão Recife came free, but Esen Sanal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Montevideo's Fernandão Recife sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Esen Sanal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Montevideo's Olavo Matorin quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Lucio Siekkötter, made in the 37th minute of the game. In the 38th minute Bray McJon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esen Sanal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After taking down the ball on Montevideo's corner Wilson Fernandez fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Esen Sanal quite easily take care of the ball. Esen Sanal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisito Antequera, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Lei Feng Yan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Ronaldo Medeiros made a huge save. In the 47th minute Luisito Antequera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esen Sanal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Renato Augusto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Esen Sanal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luisito Antequera in the 50th minute. Ronaldo Medeiros came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Lucio Siekkötter. But to his dismay, Lucio Siekkötter quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucio Siekkötter in the 56th minute of play. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucio Siekkötter in the 57th minute of play. Ronaldo Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lei Feng Yan, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Esen Sanal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisito Antequera in the 65th minute of play. In the 69th minute Renato Augusto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Esen Sanal made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Luisito Antequera sent off a good shot on target. In the 72nd match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bai Cheng Kang to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice moves Fernandão Recife could shoot a difficult shot in the 74th minute, which Esen Sanal however easily saved by the left post. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lei Feng Yan in the 75th minute of the match. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lei Feng Yan in the 77th minute of play. In the 79th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandão Recife to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Esen Sanal got control of the ball when Luisito Antequera tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ronaldo Medeiros came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Krisztián Véber. But to his dismay, Krisztián Véber quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Fernandão Recife managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montevideo's supporters rose to their feet, but Fernandão Recife was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Esen Sanal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 90th minute Krisztián Véber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 91 minutes of play, Montevideo's Fernandão Recife made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Esen Sanal was left in no man's land by his defense there! 94 minutes into the game, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Renato Augusto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ronaldo Medeiros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
