Štefan Semeno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias de Ruijter in the 9th minute of play. De Pelgrims's Mike Zoetmulder played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomáš Požgaj in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by De Pelgrims's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Peter Pekarík was slow to take the kick. During this time AFK Petržalka's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on AFK Petržalka's corner Tomáš Požgaj fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Mike Zoetmulder quite easily take care of the ball. In the 12th minute, Tomáš Požgaj left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AFK Petržalka fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 14th minute Huub Gerrits shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Štefan Semeno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Tomáš Požgaj made a precise shot to the right of Mike Zoetmulder. De Pelgrims's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 25 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper Štefan Semeno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mathias de Ruijter. After 29 minutes of play, AFK Petržalka's Igor Bališ made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mike Zoetmulder was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mike Zoetmulder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Pekarík, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Mike Zoetmulder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomáš Požgaj in the 34th minute of play. Štefan Semeno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Perivaldo Eger in the 35th minute of the match. Štefan Semeno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Perivaldo Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Štefan Semeno didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 37th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. Perivaldo Eger hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the De Pelgrims defense, Tomáš Požgaj kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mike Zoetmulder. The De Pelgrims fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mike Zoetmulder should have stopped the shot. In the 46th minute Igor Bališ shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Zoetmulder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Perivaldo Eger to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huub Gerrits in the 51st minute of play forced AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper Štefan Semeno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erben Roelofs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Igor Bališ blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mike Zoetmulder having to make a save. A collision led to De Pelgrims getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Mathias de Ruijter hit a great ball. Mike Zoetmulder stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomáš Požgaj's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Štefan Semeno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathias de Ruijter in the 63rd minute of the match. Mathias de Ruijter took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Štefan Semeno. Štefan Semeno dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. Mike Zoetmulder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michal Hudák, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Mike Zoetmulder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michal Hudák in the 82nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Perivaldo Eger in the 84th minute of play forced AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper Štefan Semeno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 84 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Eger came free, but Štefan Semeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Richard Zedník had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goal looked a bit too open when Michal Hudák came free, but Mike Zoetmulder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Eger came free, but Štefan Semeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michal Hudák fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike Zoetmulder having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. AFK Petržalka had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
