Alfredo Martins started the match with the kick off. Toby Major made in the 4th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Gaston Gonzalez. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 5th minute of play forced Paranhos Ariranha FC's goalkeeper Gaspar Gilesindo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marquês de Herval were awarded a corner in the 7th minute after Paranhos Ariranha FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Moussa Kabre took the corner. After taking down the ball on Marquês de Herval's corner Moussa Kabre fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gaspar Gilesindo quite easily take care of the ball. In the 8th minute Alfredo Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaspar Gilesindo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaspar Gilesindo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jon Grøneng in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when Paranhos Ariranha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pieter-Maarten Specht didn't get a good kick on the ball. 15 minutes into the game, Nestor Paraibano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Gaspar Gilesindo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Cristóvão Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 20th minute of play forced Paranhos Ariranha FC's goalkeeper Gaspar Gilesindo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Paranhos Ariranha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Paraibano came free, but Gaspar Gilesindo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 26 played minutes Paranhos Ariranha FC got a freekick which was hit by Cai Yi Guo. In the 27th minute, Nestor Paraibano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gaspar Gilesindo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Dida Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristóvão Mattos's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. It was a well-played corner which German Cano managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Francisco Fontes in the 43rd minute of play forced Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper Dida Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when Paranhos Ariranha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pieter-Maarten Specht didn't get a good kick on the ball. Moussa Kabre took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gaspar Gilesindo. Paranhos Ariranha FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After the first half Marquês de Herval were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristóvão Mattos to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Cristóvão Mattos came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Marquês de Herval's Gaspar Gilesindo threw himself towards the right post 60 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alfredo Martins, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Cristóvão Mattos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dida Taffarel having to make a save. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 66 played minutes Paranhos Ariranha FC got a freekick which was hit by Arí Dias. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Moussa Kabre managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marquês de Herval's supporters rose to their feet, but Moussa Kabre was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gaspar Gilesindo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 73rd minute of play forced Paranhos Ariranha FC's goalkeeper Gaspar Gilesindo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jon Grøneng got a throw-in 75 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Selami Rezan. Cristóvão Mattos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dida Taffarel having to make a save. Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristóvão Mattos in the 78th minute of play. Gaspar Gilesindo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 84th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Marquês de Herval's Gaspar Gilesindo threw himself towards the right post 86 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alfredo Martins, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gaspar Gilesindo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from German Cano in the 88th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfredo Martins in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gaspar Gilesindo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nestor Paraibano kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. João Francisco Fontes struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Dida Taffarel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paranhos Ariranha FC. Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Marquês de Herval supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Marquês de Herval would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
