The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Paraibano got free with Leandro Neves in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luiz Eduardo Tróia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dida Taffarel having to make a save. Dida Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Eduardo Tróia, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Leandro Neves. That made the score 2-0 after 19 minutes of play. In the 24th minute Gilberto dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when Caskinha Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manoel Macedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Martins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Baleren Acedo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 55 minutes into the match. Caskinha Esporte Clube:s Leandro Neves showed great skill when he stopped Moussa Kabre:s penalty. 56 minutes into the match, Moussa Kabre had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leandro Neves. Caskinha Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Moussa Kabre was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 66thth minute of the game Alfredo Martins who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caskinha Esporte Clube's Leandro Neves was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Marquês de Herval's Nestor Paraibano got a free kick in the 68th minute. Caskinha Esporte Clube's Betinho de Sousa was substituted for Thor Vennerdal. In the 69th match minute, Marquês de Herval was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nestor Paraibano to maneuver through the defense. 73 minutes into the match, Caskinha Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Leandro Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper Dida Taffarel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iván Zamorano. In the 88th minute, Toby Major hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evaristo Ortiz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dida Taffarel. Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iván Zamorano in the 91st minute of play. In the 95th match minute, Marquês de Herval was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toby Major to maneuver through the defense. Dida Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Iván Zamorano sent off a good shot on target. When the referee ended the match the Marquês de Herval players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
