In the 4th minute Damaso Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Generoso Beloki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the game, Curcio Alonso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Máté Márton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 11 minutes into the match, Congo Bongo's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Geeraerts came free, but Máté Márton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Damaso Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Damaso Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Generoso Beloki having to interfere. Damaso Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute Paul Geeraerts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Máté Márton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Damaso Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Generoso Beloki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Congo Bongo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Franz Beckenbauer in the 31st minute. A nice corner shot did that Franz Beckenbauer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Generoso Beloki quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paul Geeraerts in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Máté Márton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Congo Bongo's Damaso Sancho in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vodka Stars 1949's goalie prevented a goal. When the match clock showed 45 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Damaso Sancho sped through Vodka Stars 1949's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Generoso Beloki. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Curcio Alonso made the kick off in the second half. Máté Márton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curcio Alonso, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After some careless play in the Congo Bongo defense, Paul Geeraerts kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Máté Márton. The Congo Bongo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Máté Márton should have stopped the shot. Congo Bongo made a substitution. Sergio Austin replaced Kaj-Åke Kaká. The audience thought a goal was coming when Damaso Sancho got free with Generoso Beloki in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Generoso Beloki made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sergio Austin in the 83rd minute. Nevada Lopez de Toro took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Máté Márton. Máté Márton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Generoso Beloki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Oidor, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. A collision led to Congo Bongo getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Omar Erramun hit a great ball. After 93 minutes of play, Congo Bongo's Damaso Sancho made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Generoso Beloki was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vodka Stars 1949 were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Congo Bongo for a fine match.
