After 15 played minutes KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A got a freekick which was hit by Ryszard Kasprzak. Nildo Gerber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Witold Rakiewicz having to interfere. Przemyslaw Frankowski hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Witold Rakiewicz made an important save on a dangerous shot by João Paulo Tavares in the 27th minute. In the 30th minute, João Paulo Tavares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's attentive Stefan Skorny managed to snatch the ball when Percy Neto made a throw-in in the 32nd minute of the game. If Olaf Zagrobelny had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Paulo Tavares to make the kick off. Witold Rakiewicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Paulo Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Witold Rakiewicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Tavares, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute João Paulo Tavares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Witold Rakiewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marquinhos Baiano might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Witold Rakiewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marquinhos Baiano ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 85thth minute of the game João Paulo Tavares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's Witold Rakiewicz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Paulo Tavares in the 89th minute of play forced KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's goalkeeper Witold Rakiewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 96 minutes into the match, KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's goal looked a bit too open when João Paulo Tavares came free, but Witold Rakiewicz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
