Marcelinho Abraão came out of the goal and Wilton Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcelinho Abraão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilton Vale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 31 minutes into the game, Wilton Vale cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Marcelinho Abraão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Karaboudjan getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Rafael Godoi hit a great ball. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Karaboudjan's goalkeeper Marcelinho Abraão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by Karaboudjan's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bernard Letourneau was slow to take the kick. During this time TAQUARI FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Ernani Souto almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Karaboudjan's Marcelinho Abraão did a great save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilton Vale in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelinho Abraão saved Karaboudjan from getting behind. After the first half TAQUARI FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Wilton Vale made the kick off in the second half. The referee ignored TAQUARI FC's protests and gave Wilton Vale a yellow card for diving instead.
