With an all-out effort, AF CERRADO's Nelsinho Leite threw himself towards the right post 10 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Marcos Paulista, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 13 played minutes AF CERRADO got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Lopez. Arlindo Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aírton Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. With his leg Nelsinho Leite managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when AF CERRADO's Antônio Carlos Bueno fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. AF CERRADO were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Vascogoianiense FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jaime Pombal took the corner. A collision led to AF CERRADO getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Antônio Carlos Bueno hit a great ball. 23 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Toninho Moreira. Nelsinho Leite took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Murilo Lucas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gilmar Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcos Paulista in the 35th minute of play. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vascogoianiense FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jaime Pombal was slow to take the kick. During this time AF CERRADO's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Jaime Pombal got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nelsinho Leite quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murilo Lucas in the 40th minute of play. With his leg Nelsinho Leite managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when AF CERRADO's Antônio Carlos Bueno fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 47 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Sidnei Leão. Antônio Carlos Bueno who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 48thth minute tested the skills of Nelsinho Leite when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antônio Carlos Bueno made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilmar Monteiro in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arlindo Guedes saved AF CERRADO from getting behind. João Pirani was extremely unlucky when he, in the 56th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Vascogoianiense FC made a substitution. Carlos Eduardo Sergipano replaced Edmílson Fernandez. The AF CERRADO fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when AF CERRADO's Marcos Paulista looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Pirani in the 65th minute of play forced AF CERRADO's goalkeeper Arlindo Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Gilmar Monteiro could shoot a difficult shot in the 66th minute, which Arlindo Guedes however easily saved by the left post. Gilmar Monteiro scored 1-1 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arlindo Guedes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. AF CERRADO's Felix Smits was substituted for Carlos Alberto Jacinto. In the 75th minute, Iuri Falcão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antônio Carlos Bueno in the 76th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 79th minute Gilmar Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arlindo Guedes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arlindo Guedes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilmar Monteiro's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Nelsinho Leite showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thiago Damião in the 86th minute of the match. AF CERRADO's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jaime Pombal in the 87th minute. The audience was convinced that Gilmar Monteiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arlindo Guedes was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Sidnei Leão got his second yellow card in the match during the 92nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Sidnei Leão hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
