Gustavo Barral made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when João Augusto Messias sent off a good shot on target. In the 23rd minute, Evaristo Carneiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper Rômulo Sampaio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SinháCity FC's Nestor Messias got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adelino Vale scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rômulo Sampaio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. SAO JOANENSE FC's Rômulo Sampaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adelino Vale in the 34th minute of play. In the 40th minute Pedrinho Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Barral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baltazar Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Barral having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adelino Vale was the one to do the kick off. Adelino Vale might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rômulo Sampaio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adelino Vale ran back to his position shaking his head. After 53 minutes, Baltazar Lago mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SAO JOANENSE FC and the SinháCity FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Baltazar Lago kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. In the 60thth minute of the game Baltazar Lago who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SinháCity FC's Gustavo Barral was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 62 minutes SinháCity FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Renato Vianna who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on SAO JOANENSE FC's corner Renato Vianna fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gustavo Barral quite easily take care of the ball. SinháCity FC's Gustavo Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrinho Lara in the 68th minute of play. The supporters of SinháCity FC booed when SAO JOANENSE FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Baltazar Lago managed to get in a good position for a shot. SAO JOANENSE FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Baltazar Lago was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
