But to his dismay, Olof Rijaard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, De Kasteelheren's Marco Cales got a free kick in the 40th minute. Elroy Jongsma made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Egídio Lucas sent off a good shot on target. Icoara Football Club's Caetano Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olof Rijaard in the 47th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egídio Lucas to make the kick off. With a little luck, Icoara Football Club's Caetano Monteiro got control of the ball when Carlo Bosstraeten tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 79th minute Genílson de Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elroy Jongsma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caetano Monteiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hub Groten, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Hub Groten received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Caetano Monteiro came out and tried to block the shot, but Hub Groten slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 85th minute. After having played for 92 minutes, Fabrício Rosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Icoara Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabrício Rosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
