In the 24th minute, Thymios Sikalias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Panionios MK's Vassilis Sobolos got a free kick in the 29th minute. Panionios MK's Iosif Periandros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Panionios MK from getting a goal against them. Rômulo Sampaio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stratos Christoulis in the 44th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stratos Christoulis in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rômulo Sampaio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedrinho Lara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The SAO JOANENSE FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rômulo Sampaio should have stopped the shot. After 62 played minutes Panionios MK got a freekick which was hit by Pavlos Tassatos. Iosif Periandros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Augusto Messias in the 64th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Telis Vazakas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Rômulo Sampaio, 0-4. When João Augusto Messias fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SAO JOANENSE FC's protests and gave João Augusto Messias a yellow card for diving instead. 70 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper Rômulo Sampaio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Telis Vazakas.
