Tiaguinho Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andy Cole, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Egun Pais took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dagoberto Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Trindade Atlético Club's goalkeeper Tiaguinho Correia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The corner led to Floresta Negra FC's Hector Bazkoare getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 29 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's goal looked a bit too open when Jerzy Zjawin came free, but Tiaguinho Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andy Cole in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tiaguinho Correia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Clemente Moura hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
