But to his dismay, Niculae Podgoreanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. 40 minutes into the match, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Manole Pâslaru came free, but Ivan Chiuzbaian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niculae Podgoreanu in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivan Chiuzbaian saved Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- from getting behind. Dacian Tilea kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manole Pâslaru was the one to do the kick off. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Manole Pâslaru was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-2. There was no doubt that Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- were the better team. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
