Barrabases de Victoria's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vasco FC the free kick. After 2 played minutes Barrabases de Victoria got a freekick which was hit by José Carlos Delgado. 4 minutes into the match, Dedê Meireles notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Barrabases de Victoria's Candido Ustariz. Candido Ustariz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dedê Meireles scored 0-2 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Candido Ustariz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco FC's zone, Brian Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wellington Barbosa came out of the goal and Brian Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 19 minutes into the match, Vasco FC's goal looked a bit too open when Brian Illescas came free, but Wellington Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adriano Malaree's late challenge caught a Vasco FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adriano Malaree helped the player get up and apologised. Adriano Malaree hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. After 26 minutes, Nazario Hagedorn mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barrabases de Victoria and the Vasco FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Barrabases de Victoria getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Nazario Hagedorn hit a great ball. In the 28th minute of the match Jerônimo Severo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Candido Ustariz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 29th minute Dedê Meireles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Candido Ustariz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Gil Motta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vasco FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gil Motta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Candido Ustariz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Vasco FC's Wellington Barbosa got control of the ball when Claudio Agnese tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudio Agnese to make the kick off. The supporters of Vasco FC booed when Barrabases de Victoria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Agnese didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco FC's zone, Brian Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. If Gil Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Barrabases de Victoria's Candido Ustariz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marquinhos Schmidt in the 77th minute of play. Candido Ustariz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gil Motta in the 80th minute of play. Vasco FC were awarded a corner in the 81th minute after Barrabases de Victoria's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marquinhos Schmidt took the corner. Vasco FC's Marquinhos Schmidt was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Candido Ustariz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Barrabases de Victoria's Orlondón Berroeta was substituted for Adriano Malaree. In the 85th minute of the match Vasco FC got a corner. Barrabases de Victoria's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marquinhos Schmidt ran over to the corner to take the kick. Vasco FC's Marquinhos Schmidt was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Candido Ustariz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 88th minute, Brian Illescas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wellington Barbosa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brian Illescas in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wellington Barbosa saved Vasco FC from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Vasco FC's César de Godoi got a free kick in the 92nd minute. In the 93rd minute Brian Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Vasco FC's Tiago Gabriel Mesquita got a free kick in the 95th minute. Tanio Quilodrán took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Wellington Barbosa. Vasco FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The Vasco FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
