Macit Baydan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Uğur Sayhan's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Bahadırhan Şengil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Güclükonak SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Bahadırhan Şengil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Güclükonak SK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nafiz Tuz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. In the 74th minute, Güclükonak SK's Aydemir Uğuralp dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-2. Günalp İstikbal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aybar Ceceli in the 84th minute. Uğur Sayhan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Uğur Sayhan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Macit Baydan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aybar Ceceli got free with Günalp İstikbal in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. istanbul's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
