The ball had pretty good speed, but Pavel Chivu firmly grabbed it by the left post. MardinSpor's İlbey Sanih managed to work through massïlia's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. İlbey Sanih dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. In the 23rd minute, Baycan Yiğithan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Franz Carnet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Murillo Kepa managed to get in a good position for a shot. massïlia's supporters rose to their feet, but Murillo Kepa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Engin Sağbilge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Franz Carnet in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Engin Sağbilge saved MardinSpor from getting behind. Engin Sağbilge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Franz Carnet in the 30th minute of the match. Mehdi Vallier charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mehdi Vallier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of MardinSpor booed when massïlia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mehdi Vallier didn't get a good kick on the ball. 33 minutes into the match, massïlia's goal looked a bit too open when İlbey Sanih came free, but Pavel Chivu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 36 minutes, the score became 1-2 when İlbey Sanih sped through massïlia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pavel Chivu. MardinSpor's Engin Sağbilge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franz Carnet in the 42nd minute of play. With his leg Pavel Chivu managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when MardinSpor's İlbey Sanih fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 47 minutes into the game, Jean-Yves Dordain was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. massïlia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MardinSpor the free kick. Jean-Yves Dordain kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Franz Carnet was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes MardinSpor got a freekick which was hit by Rasim Tekin. MardinSpor's Engin Sağbilge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franz Carnet in the 53rd minute of play. If Murillo Kepa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute of the game Rasim Tekin made a throw-in which Güney Algın played forward. When MardinSpor's İlbey Sanih in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye massïlia's goalie prevented a goal. Pavel Chivu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of İlbey Sanih's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Orbay Mutlutekin struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Pavel Chivu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MardinSpor. Engin Sağbilge was a little too slow when Murillo Kepa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 92nd minute. The score was now 1-5. massïlia's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
