The Modlau fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lew Yashin should have stopped the shot. 13 minutes into the match, Modlau's goal looked a bit too open when James Batistuta came free, but Lew Yashin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Modlau's goal looked a bit too open when Dumitru Purcărete came free, but Lew Yashin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, A4p FC Gad's goal looked a bit too open when Ortle Sancho came free, but Glenn Fyfe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Modlau's Lew Yashin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by King Scorpio in the 18th minute of play. Lew Yashin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from James Batistuta in the 23rd minute of the match. Glenn Fyfe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ortle Sancho in the 26th minute. After 28th play minutes Alessandro Del Piero shot 0-3, a short shot which went by Lew Yashin and just under the crossbar into goal. Modlau's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that James Batistuta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. The Modlau players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. A4p FC Gad were winning 0-4.

The wind increased when James Batistuta made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Modlau's goalkeeper Lew Yashin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alessandro Del Piero. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ortle Sancho in the 54th minute of play forced A4p FC Gad's goalkeeper Glenn Fyfe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barry McCray fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Glenn Fyfe having to interfere. With a little luck, Modlau's Lew Yashin got control of the ball when Iulian Berceanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute, A4p FC Gad's Dumitru Purcărete dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-8. In the 96th minute, A4p FC Gad's Gică Busuioc ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Lew Yashin. Lew Yashin yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-9. The Modlau supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching A4p FC Gad's performance. The match ended with a win for A4p FC Gad.
