Montevideo's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Jano Cavalcante scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Xuacu Xuan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 29 played minutes Brasiliense FC got a freekick which was hit by Habakkuk Beardsley. Jano Cavalcante blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Xuacu Xuan having to make a save. Jano Cavalcante got in the 34th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Xuacu Xuan handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. A collision led to Brasiliense FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Matías Pereira hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Brito in the 36th minute of play forced Brasiliense FC's goalkeeper Xuacu Xuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Walmir Fernandes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andreas Lips was relentless in the 39th minute of the game.
