With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benito Naldo in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pavel Chivu saved massïlia from getting behind. In the 4th minute, Ás Ronaldo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Benito Naldo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benito Naldo in the 16th minute of play forced massïlia's goalkeeper Pavel Chivu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by massïlia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Leo Lesardo was slow to take the kick. During this time Madison's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mete Gol in the 22nd minute of play forced massïlia's goalkeeper Pavel Chivu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jochen Sommerhalder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pavel Chivu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mete Gol in the 36th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Benito Naldo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pavel Chivu was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. In the 40th minute Benito Naldo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pavel Chivu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Alejo Marcones managed to get in a good position for a shot. Madison's supporters rose to their feet, but Alejo Marcones was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pavel Chivu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pavel Chivu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mete Gol went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benito Naldo made a kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Benito Naldo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but massïlia's Pavel Chivu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pavel Chivu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benito Naldo in the 54th minute of play. With a little luck, massïlia's Pavel Chivu got control of the ball when Benito Naldo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ás Ronaldo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Pavel Chivu came out and tried to block the shot, but Ás Ronaldo slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 56th minute. massïlia's Pavel Chivu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ás Ronaldo in the 61st minute of play. If Benito Naldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernesto Emmanuel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jochen Sommerhalder, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 64th minute of the match massïlia got a corner. Madison's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jean-Yves Dordain ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jean-Yves Dordain made a great header on massïlia's corner, it was just that Madison's Ernesto Emmanuel managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 66th minute Ás Ronaldo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pavel Chivu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. massïlia's Pavel Chivu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benito Naldo in the 67th minute of play. Benito Naldo had several of the massïlia's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 70 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Pavel Chivu as he didn't even see the shot coming. Pavel Chivu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benito Naldo in the 73rd minute of the match. Ernesto Emmanuel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jochen Sommerhalder in the 74th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Mete Gol ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pavel Chivu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. After a rather tough play, Madison's Henri Ladva got a free kick in the 79th minute. 84 minutes into the game, Madison's Benito Naldo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pavel Chivu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. When Benito Naldo came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Madison fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benito Naldo couldn't finish the play. In the 90th match minute, Madison was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristobal Chumo to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, massïlia's Pavel Chivu got control of the ball when Benito Naldo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Noa Mony's late challenge caught a Madison's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Noa Mony helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Madison booed when massïlia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Noa Mony didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Naldo struck a weak shot in the 99th minute. Pavel Chivu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Madison. When the final whistle sounded Madison left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than massïlia.
