In the 5th minute Murillo Kepa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Engin Sağbilge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jochen Sommerhalder in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Engin Sağbilge saved MardinSpor from getting behind. Jochen Sommerhalder scored 0-2 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Engin Sağbilge, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When massïlia's Jochen Sommerhalder in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye MardinSpor's goalie prevented a goal. İlbey Sanih fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pavel Chivu having to interfere. Pavel Chivu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from İlbey Sanih, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. MardinSpor's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cevahir Canser in the 39th minute. Sarp Kadi hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Jochen Sommerhalder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for İlbey Sanih to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of massïlia booed when MardinSpor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Uskan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jochen Sommerhalder could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Engin Sağbilge made a huge save. In the 59th minute, Joseph Leperlier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cevahir Canser recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 62 minutes into the game, when Joseph Leperlier put in a rough tackle. In the 64th minute Sarp Kadi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pavel Chivu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. MardinSpor's Engin Sağbilge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save MardinSpor from getting a goal against them. massïlia's Pavel Chivu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İlbey Sanih in the 69th minute of play. Pavel Chivu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Cevahir Canser notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of massïlia's Pavel Chivu. Pavel Chivu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cevahir Canser in the 78th minute of play forced massïlia's goalkeeper Pavel Chivu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 80 minutes of play, MardinSpor's İlbey Sanih made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pavel Chivu was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by İlbey Sanih in the 83rd minute of play forced massïlia's goalkeeper Pavel Chivu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. massïlia's Pavel Chivu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İlbey Sanih in the 85th minute of play. In the 89th minute Murillo Kepa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Engin Sağbilge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If İlbey Sanih had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 95th minute there was a penalty for MardinSpor. Cevahir Canser stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Pavel Chivu. 3-2. MardinSpor were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
