When Jacinto Cross fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Talcampeón FC's protests and gave Jacinto Cross a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute, Jacinto Cross hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Antonio Mundo managed to get in a good position for a shot. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's supporters rose to their feet, but Antonio Mundo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Apolo Larrañaga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Apolo Richie scored 0-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Apolo Larrañaga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Apolo Larrañaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Apolo Richie in the 13th minute of play. If Jairo Formerio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Apolo Larrañaga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erasmo Millrick in the 20th minute of the match. In the 21st match minute, Talcampeón FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bartolomé Rengifo to maneuver through the defense. Apolo Richie hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute Apolo Richie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apolo Larrañaga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute, Erasmo Millrick left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The NEWELL´S OLD BOYS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 29th minute Antonio Mundo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apolo Larrañaga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Apolo Larrañaga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Apolo Richie in the 37th minute of the match. After 40 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Millrick. Apolo Larrañaga came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Jairo Formerio. But to his dismay, Jairo Formerio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Apolo Richie to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Jacinto Cross hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Apolo Larrañaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Apolo Richie in the 54th minute of play. Cerilo Bustunzuria's late challenge caught a NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cerilo Bustunzuria helped the player get up and apologised. After some careless play in the Talcampeón FC defense, Antonio Mundo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Apolo Larrañaga. The Talcampeón FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Apolo Larrañaga should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Talcampeón FC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Nestor Barria hit a great ball. Talcampeón FC's Apolo Larrañaga proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Talcampeón FC from getting a goal against them. Antonio Mundo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Apolo Larrañaga made a huge save. Ramon Calvino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrés Villaseñor, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. When %teams%'s Antonio Mundo was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 0-5 just inside the left pole, 82 minutes into the game. Apolo Larrañaga was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Apolo Larrañaga came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Erasmo Millrick. But to his dismay, Erasmo Millrick quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
