Arthur Sweeney might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alberto Pires. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arthur Sweeney ran back to his position shaking his head. Arthur Sweeney came free with the goalkeeper in the 16th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Alberto Pires could save by the left post. 36 minutes into the match, Taguarussu SS's goalkeeper Alberto Pires had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arthur Sweeney. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arthur Sweeney in the 38th minute of play forced Taguarussu SS's goalkeeper Alberto Pires to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Rodrigo Maher fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored California United Striker's protests and gave Rodrigo Maher a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of California United Striker:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Taguarussu SS:s goal. Solomon Randall had in the 45thth minute some difficulties stopping Remo Gonçalves's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the California United Striker defense, Remo Gonçalves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Solomon Randall. The California United Striker fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Solomon Randall should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lúcio Messias made a kick off. Dagoberto Antunes made in the 55th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by California United Striker's Rodrigo Maher. The supporters of Taguarussu SS booed when California United Striker was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Maher didn't get a good kick on the ball. Solomon Randall was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Remo Gonçalves. In the 59th minute, Arthur Sweeney made a precise shot to the right of Alberto Pires. Taguarussu SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. If Ian Farmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Taguarussu SS's Alberto Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arthur Sweeney in the 64th minute of play. Arthur Sweeney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alberto Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arthur Sweeney, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. 79 minutes into the match, California United Striker's Arthur Sweeney sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alberto Pires narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Solomon Randall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simão Gaúcho in the 80th minute of the match. After 83 played minutes Taguarussu SS got a freekick which was hit by Dagoberto Antunes. Arthur Sweeney scored 3-1 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alberto Pires, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 90th minute, Arthur Sweeney got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to California United Striker getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Terrence Kilgore hit a great ball. Alberto Pires came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by California United Striker's Arthur Sweeney. But to his dismay, Arthur Sweeney quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1.
