In the 6th minute, Benjamim Saldanha fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Rui Peixoto, passed just outside the right post. In the 8th minute, Ademir Guia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rui Peixoto was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. When Renato Penha came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Diamond Football Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Renato Penha couldn't finish the play. After 17th play minutes Luciano Barral shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Valdir Pérez and just under the crossbar into goal. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Luciano Barral put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Valdir Pérez. A collision led to Diamond Football Club getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Rafa Marques hit a great ball. The supporters of União Verde FC booed when Diamond Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléber Tande didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute, Vinícius Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpected shot in the 31st minute by Ademir Guia got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Luciano Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Renato Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The União Verde FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Diamond Football Club were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laércio Damião to make the kick off. Renato Penha might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valdir Pérez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Renato Penha ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 56th match minute, União Verde FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademir Guia to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, União Verde FC's Valdir Pérez got control of the ball when Luciano Barral tried to sneak it across the goal line. 68 minutes into the match, Ademir Guia notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Diamond Football Club's Rui Peixoto. Rui Peixoto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 79th minute Renato Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdir Pérez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorge Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Diamond Football Club's Nelsinho de Sena got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 83rd minute Jorge Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the match, Diamond Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Ademir Guia came free, but Rui Peixoto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rui Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamim Saldanha in the 88th minute of play. If Renato Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diamond Football Club were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
