The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Alfredo Martins came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Marquês de Herval fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Martins couldn't finish the play. Valdir Pérez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in União Verde FC's zone, Alfredo Martins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valdir Pérez came out of the goal and Alfredo Martins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 14 minutes into the game, Alfredo Martins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Valdir Pérez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 21 minutes into the match, Alfredo Martins notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of União Verde FC's Valdir Pérez. Valdir Pérez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the União Verde FC defense, Alfredo Martins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Valdir Pérez. The União Verde FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valdir Pérez should have stopped the shot. After 27 minutes of play, Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valdir Pérez was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alfredo Martins scored 0-5 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Valdir Pérez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. German Cano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valdir Pérez having to make a save. In the 38th minute, Alfredo Martins made a precise shot to the right of Valdir Pérez. União Verde FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-7. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Alfredo Martins put it in 0-8 from a short distance just to the right of Valdir Pérez. German Cano might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valdir Pérez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. German Cano ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 48th match minute, Marquês de Herval was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Selami Rezan to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-8 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfredo Martins to strike the kick off in the second half. Alfredo Martins didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 0-9 via right post in the game's 52nd minute. Marquês de Herval's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! 55 minutes into the match, German Cano notched a goal, 0-10, to the right of União Verde FC's Valdir Pérez. Valdir Pérez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Vladimir Motta made in the 58th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Benjamim Saldanha immediately put the ball in play. Alfredo Martins's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 86thth minute, Valdir Pérez skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins managed to work through União Verde FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Alfredo Martins dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Alfredo Martins struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Valdir Pérez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marquês de Herval. In the 90thth minute of the game Alfredo Martins who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but União Verde FC's Valdir Pérez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Martins in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Valdir Pérez saved União Verde FC from getting behind. The União Verde FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Marquês de Herval were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
