Jesse McJames took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teofilo Unai, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the match, Baby Snakes's goalkeeper Ron Tomkin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paddy Thomson. 22 minutes into the game, Wal McVean recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ron Tomkin. Wal McVean showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wal McVean in the 25th minute of play forced Baby Snakes's goalkeeper Ron Tomkin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Graeme Gordon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ron Tomkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute Phillip McKeochan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ron Tomkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Baby Snakes's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Laerte Tande was slow to take the kick. During this time Smiddy Celts's players had a chance to rest. Ron Tomkin made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Wal McVean sent off a good shot on target. Baby Snakes's defense didn't have a chance, in the 42nd minute, when Paddy Thomson scored to the left of an out of position Ron Tomkin, making the score, 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paddy Thomson got free with Ron Tomkin in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Phillip McKeochan made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teofilo Unai got free with Jesse McJames in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Smiddy Celts's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Claudio Ubeda was slow to take the kick. During this time Baby Snakes's players had a chance to rest. Baby Snakes's Teofilo Unai was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jesse McJames in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Baby Snakes made a substitution. Harvey Courtney replaced Artuir McNamee. In the 57th minute Smiddy Celts were awarded a corner. Laerte Tande went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Laerte Tande almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Baby Snakes's Ron Tomkin did a great save. In the 59th minute, Paddy Thomson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ron Tomkin was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Ron Tomkin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paddy Thomson in the 64th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Baby Snakes's goal looked a bit too open when Phillip McKeochan came free, but Ron Tomkin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jesse McJames showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nils Bohr in the 69th minute of the match. After 72 minutes Smiddy Celts's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Claudio Ubeda who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Baby Snakes's Claudio Ubeda to fire away a dangerous shot which Jesse McJames despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 75th minute Phillip McKeochan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ron Tomkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score was now 3-1. 89 minutes into the match, Smiddy Celts's goal looked a bit too open when İnanç Özben came free, but Jesse McJames reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Smiddy Celts booed when Baby Snakes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ziggy Stardorf didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Smiddy Celts fans cheered their team off the field, for while Baby Snakes had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
