The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacobo Mendiko showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute Héctor Mainer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but René Stam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Osvaldo Sayveon in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg René Stam saved Las Palmas from getting behind. ᴀᴄʜᴛᴜɴɢ ʙᴀʙɪᴇs ᴾᴵᴬᴿᴬ's Jacobo Mendiko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peker Kazak in the 68th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Las Palmas's zone, Mathias Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. René Stam came out of the goal and Mathias Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jacobo Mendiko made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cayetano Esdras in the 93rd minute. René Stam showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathias Guerra in the 95th minute of the match.
