With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gianluigi Donnarumma prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gianluigi Donnarumma showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edinho Vasconcelos in the 44th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 67th minute, Ladislao Mazurkiewicz made a precise shot to the right of Frederico Smith. Clube do Remo MZ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 70th minute, Clube do Remo MZ's Edinho Vasconcelos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. Clube do Remo MZ made a substitution. Ricardinho Simão replaced Elivélton Valladares. Ismael Mandrak's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gianluigi Donnarumma firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Walmyr Dionísio was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 80 minutes had been played. Gianluigi Donnarumma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 89th minute of play forced Clube do Remo MZ's goalkeeper Frederico Smith to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clube do Remo MZ were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing S.E.R. Caxias do Sul to leave the ground with a draw.
