MINEIROS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Mauro Sarmento's late challenge caught a MINEIROS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mauro Sarmento helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of MINEIROS booed when Castanheiro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nico de Mendonça was the one to do the kick off. Christian Fernandes charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christian Fernandes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Júnior Alagoano did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-2 to the left of a surprised Serginho Taffarel 54 minutes into the match. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Castanheiro SC. Doni Seco had in the 70thth minute some difficulties stopping Maicon Quintal's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the Castanheiro SC defense, Maicon Quintal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Doni Seco. The Castanheiro SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Doni Seco should have stopped the shot. Doni Seco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maicon Quintal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Doni Seco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nico de Mendonça in the 78th minute of the match. 84 minutes in the game, Ronaldo Pinho fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Serginho Taffarel having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Júnior Alagoano got free with Serginho Taffarel in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ronaldo Pinho hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The Castanheiro SC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented MINEIROS from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
