Mauro Sarmento really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Ronaldo Pinho hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. A hard shot 22 in the game by Marcelo Eger from a close distance when the talented Telmo Trigo managed to make a qualified save. A.A. Francana's players were relieved. In the 23rd minute Castanheiro SC were awarded a corner. Marcelo Eger went to the cornerflag to take it. Castanheiro SC's Marcelo Eger was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Telmo Trigo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Pinho in the 24th minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Telmo Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute Castanheiro SC were awarded a corner. Marcelo Eger went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Marcelo Eger got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Telmo Trigo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Júnior Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Trigo having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Marcelo Eger left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Castanheiro SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Arnaldo Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.A. Francana's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnaldo Ramos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doni Seco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelo Eger got free with Telmo Trigo in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcelo Eger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Trigo having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcelo Eger made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelo Eger in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Telmo Trigo saved A.A. Francana from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in A.A. Francana's zone, Marcelo Eger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Trigo came out of the goal and Marcelo Eger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Castanheiro SC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Telmo da Fonseca hit a great ball. Telmo Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldo Pinho in the 65th minute of the match. Marcelo Eger charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcelo Eger the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Marcelo Eger hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute, Marcelo Eger made a precise shot to the right of Telmo Trigo. A.A. Francana's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. In the 79th minute, one of Castanheiro SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Castanheiro SC. If Ronaldo Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A.A. Francana's Telmo Trigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Sarmento in the 87th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Pinho in the 92nd minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Telmo Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Adolfo Leite hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. A.A. Francana's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
