Edinho Vasconcelos's late challenge caught a Goblins F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edinho Vasconcelos helped the player get up and apologised. A hard shot by Waldemar Ramos from long distance, 4 minutes into the match, got Frederico Smith's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Hortêncio de Lima kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Vivaldo Munhoz took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frederico Smith. Frederico Smith dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Goblins F.C.'s Zé Pedro Mendes got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 11th minute, Ismael Mandrak left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Clube do Remo MZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Zé Pedro Mendes came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Goblins F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Pedro Mendes couldn't finish the play. After having played for 17 minutes, Ismael Mandrak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube do Remo MZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ismael Mandrak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vivaldo Soeiro in the 18th minute of play forced Goblins F.C.'s goalkeeper Arnaldo de Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnaldo de Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edinho Vasconcelos in the 19th minute of the match. Goblins F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube do Remo MZ the free kick. A collision led to Goblins F.C. getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Waldemar Ramos hit a great ball. Edinho Vasconcelos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnaldo de Carvalho having to interfere. During the 40th minute of the match Edinho Vasconcelos completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Edinho Vasconcelos a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Arnaldo de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ismael Mandrak in the 44th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Toninho de Mendonça stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Ismael Mandrak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Clube do Remo MZ getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Walmyr Dionísio hit a great ball. If Ismael Mandrak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ismael Mandrak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Clube do Remo MZ supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Clube do Remo MZ would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
