Elói Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Galo na Veia FC™'s Elói Medeiros got control of the ball when Túlio Negri tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Túlio Negri slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Elói Medeiros. That made the score 1-0 after 22 minutes of play. In the 24th minute, Yuri Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 25 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Túlio Negri. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leopoldo Sanches stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
