Sporting Cristal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernanco Peso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 9 played minutes Sporting Cristal got a freekick which was hit by Cazimir Gogea. Heli Monsalve took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jon Iruegas. Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fernanco Peso got free with Lizardi Montanez in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sporting Cristal's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gertjan De Ryck in the 17th minute. Gertjan De Ryck made a great header on Sporting Cristal's corner, it was just that Sporting Chilcano's Lizardi Montanez managed to reach the ball for a save. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lizardi Montanez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Sporting Cristal booed when Sporting Chilcano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paul Trielles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting Chilcano's goalkeeper Lizardi Montanez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lizardi Montanez made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Fernanco Peso sent off a good shot on target. In the 44th match minute, Sporting Chilcano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilesindo Pastrana to maneuver through the defense. Fernanco Peso did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Lizardi Montanez 46 minutes into the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernanco Peso was the one to do the kick off. Lizardi Montanez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernanco Peso in the 52nd minute of play. Ludomil Kolba kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Sporting Chilcano's Lizardi Montanez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernanco Peso in the 59th minute of play. Lizardi Montanez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernanco Peso, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Jon Iruegas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 70 minutes into the match, Sporting Chilcano's goal looked a bit too open when Fernanco Peso came free, but Lizardi Montanez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Sporting Chilcano booed when Sporting Cristal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernanco Peso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Armando Santotis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jon Iruegas came out and tried to block the shot, but Armando Santotis slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 91st minute. Claudinei Suarbol hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Sporting Chilcano's Armando Santotis got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sporting Cristal fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sporting Chilcano had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
