Fernanco Peso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jon Iruegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teddy Tholsted, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Arnulfo Valencia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jon Iruegas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. 68 minutes into the match, Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Jon Iruegas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arnulfo Valencia. A nice corner shot did that Gertjan De Ryck got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ferdinand Johnson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jon Iruegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xuaco Oñaederra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artal Burualla in the 89th minute of play forced Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Jon Iruegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Artal Burualla took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jon Iruegas. Jon Iruegas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3.
