Sporting Cristal's Fernanco Peso got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Atlético Grau Piura's Tartalo Delatorre got control of the ball when Fernanco Peso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jon Iruegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Oterino in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabian Oterino in the 34th minute of play forced Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Jon Iruegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute of the game Federico Moura made a throw-in which Fabian Oterino played forward. 41 minutes into the match, Atlético Grau Piura's goal looked a bit too open when Fernanco Peso came free, but Tartalo Delatorre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Ronaldão Nogueira in the 45th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Atlético Grau Piura's Andoni Ascarza. The supporters of Sporting Cristal booed when Atlético Grau Piura was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andoni Ascarza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fernanco Peso made a kick off. In the 58th minute, Fernanco Peso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tartalo Delatorre was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. A sloppy throw-in by Federico Moura in the 65th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Sporting Cristal's Llorienzo Buenaga. In the 66thth minute of the game Fernanco Peso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético Grau Piura's Tartalo Delatorre was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Fabian Oterino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jon Iruegas was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Tartalo Delatorre came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting Cristal's Fernanco Peso. But to his dismay, Fernanco Peso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Atlético Grau Piura made a substitution. Junior Quintana replaced Fabian Oterino. Sporting Cristal's Jon Iruegas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Cristal from getting a goal against them. 91 minutes into the game, Junior Quintana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Jon Iruegas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 94th minute, Christian Luciano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Cristal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1.
