Ariel Ponc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Ribas in the 21st minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Villa Mitre City's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Ribas came free, but Ariel Ponc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner was taken by Adolfo Caires in the 28th minute. A nice corner shot did that Luís Ribas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ariel Ponc quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Noel Marinho in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ariel Ponc saved Villa Mitre City from getting behind. After 36 minutes Villa Mitre City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adolfo Caires who took care of the corner kick. In the 38th minute of the match Bianco Pietropaolo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ariel Ponc skillfully saved the ball. Noel Marinho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ariel Ponc read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The Villa Mitre City manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing SLB TELHA to win.
