The KS HANZA Goleniów fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when KS HANZA Goleniów's Morgan Lundqvist looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting de Gijón from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matias Bilintx in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sergiu Cioacă saved KS HANZA Goleniów from getting behind. Sergiu Cioacă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saturnino Curcio in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roland Gozdowski in the 16th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba got control of the ball when Klement Marut tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sergiu Cioacă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Maradona in the 20th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Saturnino Curcio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sergiu Cioacă was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in KS HANZA Goleniów's zone, Diego Maradona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sergiu Cioacă came out of the goal and Diego Maradona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Akın Sahir managed to get in a good position for a shot. KS HANZA Goleniów's supporters rose to their feet, but Akın Sahir was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Óscar Cordoba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matias Bilintx to make the kick off. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Akın Sahir in the 53rd minute of play. Sergiu Cioacă didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alejandro Rufo went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Sergiu Cioacă took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Șerban Chihaia took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Óscar Cordoba. Óscar Cordoba dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Rune Fanström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Sergiu Cioacă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sporting de Gijón's Atilano Feo was substituted for Carlo Crema. In the 79th minute, Zbyszek Przybyciel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 80 played minutes, Sporting de Gijón's Gabriel Diaz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sergiu Cioacă came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sporting de Gijón reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diego Maradona got free with Sergiu Cioacă in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 84th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergiu Cioacă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergiu Cioacă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Maradona in the 92nd minute of the match. Miromir Podowski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Óscar Cordoba having to interfere. The KS HANZA Goleniów support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
