Petros Vasdekis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loreto Turienzo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the match, U21 Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Erli Haaland came free, but Pelayo Villoldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pelayo Villoldo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ilias Charidis, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ilias Charidis made a kick off. After some careless play in the U21 Uruguay defense, Dimitris Peravrechidis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pelayo Villoldo. The U21 Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pelayo Villoldo should have stopped the shot. In the 84th minute, Erli Haaland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Petros Vasdekis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ederono Ojero in the 90th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 91 minutes, Pelayo Villoldo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The corner ended in Argyris Tsaousidis almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Uruguay's Pelayo Villoldo did a great save. Mateo Antoni made in the 94th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by U21 Greece's Lakis Xanthis.
