The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anak Junior got free with Almiro Setúbal in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The U21 Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when U21 Portugal's Ronaldo Pinheiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Portugal's goalkeeper Almiro Setúbal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of U21 Indonesia booed when U21 Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeferino Corte-Real didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Jérémy Špokas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nico Ota's late challenge caught a U21 Indonesia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Almiro Setúbal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Indonesia. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Anak Junior hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Almiro Setúbal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anak Junior, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Duloh Kaimu kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Emílio Bandeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dewa Cinta having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gusmão Candeias got free with Dewa Cinta in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 Portugal had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
