In the 14th minute, 朱傲义 ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Frank Mora was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Frank Mora didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 朱傲义 went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. 朱傲义 might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frank Mora. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. 朱傲义 ran back to his position shaking his head. After 27 minutes of play, China's 朱傲义 made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Frank Mora was left in no man's land by his defense there! 魏亮宇 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Calvo in the 31st minute of play. Frank Mora didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 朱傲义 went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet as Reiner Fallas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving 魏亮宇. That made the score 1-6 in the 38 minute of play. Frank Mora took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 朱傲义, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half China were leading 1-7. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

China's Dé 孙坚 was substituted for 鲁朋旭. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Costa Rica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Long Xiang Yuan was slow to take the kick. During this time China's players had a chance to rest. 柯正轩 was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 57 minutes into the match, China's goal looked a bit too open when Chunche Montero came free, but 魏亮宇 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 朱傲义's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frank Mora read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. 魏亮宇 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Luna in the 61st minute of the match. Costa Rica's Alain Duarte was substituted for Giovanni Lehman. Costa Rica made a substitution. Alfonso Mejias replaced Aurelio Badilla. In the 65th minute Jorge Luna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 魏亮宇 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 朱傲义 took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frank Mora. Frank Mora dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-8. Costa Rica made a substitution. Dennis Vilchez replaced Antonio Picado. 魏亮宇 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Calvo, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. China's 魏亮宇 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Luna in the 74th minute of play. Frank Mora came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by China's 朱傲义. But to his dismay, 朱傲义 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-9. Costa Rica's Frank Mora played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 朱傲义 in the 81st minute of play. Frank Mora stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 朱傲义's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Frank Mora made an important save on a dangerous shot by 朱傲义 in the 85th minute. In the 90th minute, 朱傲义 got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. China's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
