Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gustavo-Hernán Egoi in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Branislav Velchevski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 25 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Ochoa came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustavo-Hernán Egoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 28 minutes, Wilfredo Bieito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka and the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Gabriel Erramun hit a great ball. Branislav Velchevski made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Gustavo-Hernán Egoi sent off a good shot on target. Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka's Gustavo-Hernán Egoi got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wilfredo Bieito hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Kepa Arrizabalaga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elpidio Francis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elpidio Francis made a kick off. Kepa Arrizabalaga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arnaldo Gabon in the 52nd minute. Gustavo-Hernán Egoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA made a substitution. André Monclús replaced Elpidio Francis. André Monclús's late challenge caught a Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. André Monclús helped the player get up and apologised. André Monclús kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka's Kepa Arrizabalaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aristides Asteri in the 83rd minute of play. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Bonifacio Suarez was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Kepa Arrizabalaga in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aaron Jokin in the 90th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
