The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Xavier in the 9th minute of play forced Fluminense DF's goalkeeper Edmílson Simão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silver Mineur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germán Kanø, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Silver Mineur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Décio Cunha in the 18th minute of play. A collision led to Fluminense DF getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Décio Cunha hit a great ball. Luiz Fernando Pernambucano kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Nico da Costa's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 25thth minute, Edmílson Simão skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 27 played minutes Fluminense DF got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Lopez. Luiz Fernando Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Simão having to interfere. AMERICANO F.C.'s Luiz Fernando Pernambucano suffered a sore thigh after 30 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 30 minutes into the game, Jeremias Maranhense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fluminense DF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AMERICANO F.C. the free kick. AMERICANO F.C. made a substitution. Agostinho Eger replaced Luiz Fernando Pernambucano. A collision led to Fluminense DF getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Jeremias Maranhense hit a great ball. Silver Mineur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Germán Kanø in the 33rd minute of play. In the 39th minute, João Augusto Baiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Silver Mineur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Décio Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Décio Cunha came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Fluminense DF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Décio Cunha couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute, Germán Kanø got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Gildo Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 51 played minutes AMERICANO F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Agostinho Eger. When the match clock showed 52 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Décio Cunha sped through AMERICANO F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Silver Mineur. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agostinho Eger in the 56th minute of play forced Fluminense DF's goalkeeper Edmílson Simão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute of the match Vivaldo Moreira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silver Mineur showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 67 minutes of play Fluminense DF's Jeremias Maranhense was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Jeremias Maranhense kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. After having played for 69 minutes, Agostinho Eger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AMERICANO F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Agostinho Eger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 72 minutes, Gildo Cearense mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AMERICANO F.C. and the Fluminense DF players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to AMERICANO F.C. getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Slamet Ashraff hit a great ball. A collision led to Fluminense DF getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Nuno Lopez hit a great ball. Edmílson Simão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gildo Cearense in the 80th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Germán Kanø got free with Silver Mineur in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fluminense DF's Luizão Diniz was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 86th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Edmílson Simão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gildo Cearense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The Fluminense DF players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
