Manga Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeremias Maia in the 9th minute of the match. In the 11th minute Vivaldo Paes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diguinho Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charles Capixaba took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manga Santos. Manga Santos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 17thth minute of the game Charles Capixaba who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MACUMBA's Manga Santos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of MACUMBA booed when C o n f i a n ç a - SE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeremias Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 23 played minutes C o n f i a n ç a - SE got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Monteiro. Josué Quintal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diguinho Carioca having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Charles Capixaba put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Manga Santos. MACUMBA's Manga Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charles Capixaba in the 33rd minute of play. The corner led C o n f i a n ç a - SE's Arthur Barbosa to fire away a dangerous shot which Manga Santos despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 38thth minute of the game Charles Capixaba who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MACUMBA's Manga Santos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The C o n f i a n ç a - SE fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when C o n f i a n ç a - SE's Jeremias Maia looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. MACUMBA's José Jofre was substituted for Giovanni Simeone. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Charles Capixaba to strike the kick off in the second half. C o n f i a n ç a - SE's Jeremias Maia got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jeremias Maias short, quick shot in the 80thth minute got Manga Santos to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a little luck, MACUMBA's Manga Santos got control of the ball when Jeremias Maia tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 84th minute of the match C o n f i a n ç a - SE got a corner. MACUMBA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Charles Capixaba ran over to the corner to take the kick. C o n f i a n ç a - SE's attentive Arthur Barbosa managed to snatch the ball when João Novaes made a throw-in in the 87th minute of the game. Jeremias Maia might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manga Santos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jeremias Maia ran back to his position shaking his head. João Novaes charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Novaes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 93rd minute, João Novaes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 95 minutes into the match, MACUMBA's José Jofre sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Diguinho Carioca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. C o n f i a n ç a - SE had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
