David Seaman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from German Cano in the 6th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aníbal Alagoano in the 10th minute of play forced Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper Dida Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Seaman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 12th minute of play. If Vinicio Junior had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Paraibano got free with David Seaman in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 24th minute of the match Jenipapo SC got a corner. Marquês de Herval's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Arsenio Gipuzkoa ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Marquês de Herval's goalie and right to Börje Kämpe. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Marquês de Herval's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 26th minute, Aníbal Alagoano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dida Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Vinicio Junior took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dida Taffarel. Dida Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Paraibano got free with David Seaman in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 40 minutes into the match, Jenipapo SC's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Paraibano came free, but David Seaman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nestor Paraibano. In the 44th minute Aníbal Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Vinicio Junior managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jenipapo SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vinicio Junior was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dida Taffarel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Jenipapo SC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

David Seaman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nestor Paraibano in the 51st minute of the match. 54 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Vinicio Junior came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Selami Rezan in the 56th minute of play forced Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Jenipapo SC's Zé Carlos Monteiro got a free kick in the 59th minute. Pedro Luís da Rocha might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Seaman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedro Luís da Rocha ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 62nd minute of play forced Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Jenipapo SC's Raphael Cunha in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Marquês de Herval's goalie prevented a goal. Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Alagoano in the 67th minute of play. In the 71st match minute, Marquês de Herval was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moussa Kabre to maneuver through the defense. When Jenipapo SC's Aníbal Alagoano in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. But to his dismay, German Cano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raphael Cunha in the 93rd minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Jenipapo SC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
