When Reuben McCollum got free in front of the goal in the 6th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Oscar Sweeney was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The supporters of Gaffney FC booed when Grantham Town FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charlie Devaney didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Luke Kirkpatrick fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grantham Town FC's protests and gave Luke Kirkpatrick a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Grantham Town FC's Luke Kirkpatrick got a free kick in the 10th minute. After 15 played minutes Grantham Town FC got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Devaney. A hard shot by Duane Drake from long distance, 16 minutes into the match, got Oscar Sweeney's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When Ricardo Gilliam came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Gaffney FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Gilliam couldn't finish the play. Duane Drake fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Sweeney having to interfere. Oscar Sweeney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Gilliam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grantham Town FC's Rio Locke got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27th match minute, Grantham Town FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joshua Jobling to maneuver through the defense. Oscar Sweeney came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Gaffney FC's Reuben McCollum. But to his dismay, Reuben McCollum quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Rio Locke hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Oscar Sweeney showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duane Drake, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After some careless play in the Grantham Town FC defense, Reuben McCollum kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oscar Sweeney. The Grantham Town FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oscar Sweeney should have stopped the shot. When Charlie Devaney fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grantham Town FC's protests and gave Charlie Devaney a yellow card for diving instead. Charlie Devaney kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Grantham Town FC's Oscar Sweeney proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Grantham Town FC from getting a goal against them. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reuben McCollum to make the kick off. Gaffney FC's Reuben McCollum got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oscar Sweeney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Gilliam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Gaffney FC's Tyrell Lugo got control of the ball when Rio Locke tried to sneak it across the goal line. Oscar Sweeney made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Gilliam in the 69th minute of play. In the 70th minute Reuben McCollum shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Sweeney saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luke Kirkpatrick hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Oscar Sweeney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reuben McCollum, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thomas Culverhouse hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute of the match Duane Drake sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oscar Sweeney skillfully saved the ball.
