Jimmy Lind ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 17th match minute, Grentino FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Válter Baiano to maneuver through the defense. Jimmy Lind took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Falcão Sampaio. Grentino FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 22 minutes of play, Maraponga FAC's Xacintu Magadan made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Falcão Sampaio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Falcão Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xacintu Magadan, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Darren Verlet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Falcão Sampaio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Joaquin Xacintu took the ball and in the 48 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mané Andrade. Mané Andrade dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erasmo Simão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Falcão Sampaio successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Válter Baiano hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Falcão Sampaio made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Jimmy Lind sent off a good shot on target. Mané Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erasmo Simão in the 60th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Grentino FC's zone, Darren Verlet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Falcão Sampaio came out of the goal and Darren Verlet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
