Dalmo Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bene Animatus's Juvenal Talló proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Bene Animatus from getting a goal against them. Jovens Democratas MZC were awarded a corner in the 33th minute after Bene Animatus's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dobromir Zagrodny took the corner. The corner led Jovens Democratas MZC's Dobromir Zagrodny to fire away a dangerous shot which Juvenal Talló despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jovens Democratas MZC's Dalmo Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jardel Velloso in the 43rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Dobromir Zagrodny managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jovens Democratas MZC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dobromir Zagrodny was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juvenal Talló breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Chico de Sousa to make the kick off. Bene Animatus's Juvenal Talló played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xu Li Sang in the 50th minute of play. After some careless play in the Bene Animatus defense, Xu Li Sang kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juvenal Talló. The Bene Animatus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juvenal Talló should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco van Basten in the 57th minute of play forced Bene Animatus's goalkeeper Juvenal Talló to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
